The Virginia Page Program is a hands-on, behind-the-scenes opportunity offered to the best and brightest young leaders in Virginia.

Students, ages thirteen and fourteen, are nominated by their delegates and given permission by their parents and schools to serve as pages. Once all Pages are appointed, the Clerk assumes the responsibilities of administering the program. These responsibilities include securing lodging arrangements, providing study hall tutors, monitoring school progress while working during the session, and managing the daily duties assigned to the pages.

Pages are hired to assist the members of the Virginia State Senate, the Clerk's Office staff, and other legislative staff in the daily duties required for the operation of the Senate during the session. These duties include collating bills for members and staff; distributing legislation and legislative documents to members, staff, and their offices; assisting committee clerks in committee meetings; preparing the members' daily calendar books; and performing general office errands.

This is the type of program that changes children's lives and turns them into leaders. As a parent, with two children who have participated, Senator Surovell is happy to answer any questions. It is a once in a life time experience and he strongly encourages all 36th District children to consider this opportunity.
